The Lost Girl’s Return
“I didn’t get lost - I left. On purpose.”
The Quill hadn’t even stopped humming from Beauty’s mic drop before Tink started circling like a banshee in couture.
“No. Nope. Nuh-uh. Absolutely NOT. If you even think about bringing that smug little -”
“Too late,” Goldi whispered, eyes wide.
A ripple of blue shimmered in the air like a tear in time and sass, and suddenly -
WENDY.
Boots like pirate royalty. Jacket stolen off a sky captain. Hair longer, wilder, streaked with starlight. She looked like she’d dropkick a god and then write a novel about it.
“Ohhh nooo,” Tink muttered, already fizzing with glitter-rage. “Not her.”
Wendy didn’t walk in.
She sauntered.
With the chaotic elegance of someone who had absolutely no regrets and probably stole half of Neverland before peacing out.
“Ladies,” she greeted with a tilt of her head and a sly grin. “Miss me?”
“Not even a little,” Tink snapped.
“You were not invited,” Snow added.
Cinderella squinted. “Didn’t I see you in a pirate duel with the Queen of Hearts last century?”
“Probably. She cheated.” Wendy shrugged off her coat like it offended her. “Anyway, don’t worry. I’m not here to take your Quill. I’m just here to borrow it.”
Tink crossed her arms, wings flickering. “Oh sure. ‘Borrow.’ That’s what you said about Peter.”
Wendy smirked. “Darling, Peter borrowed me. Then couldn’t keep up.”
A collective OOOOH bounced around the keep like a rogue echo spell.
Goldi dropped her spoon.
Red whispered, “Daaaamn…”
Even Beauty’s phantom mist outside the window swirled with passive-aggressive admiration.
Tink hissed. “You manipulated him! You twisted his mind with your big blue eyes and your bedtime stories -”
“I liberated him,” Wendy corrected, already spinning the Quill between her fingers. “He wanted to fly forever. I gave him a reason to soar.”
“You stole Neverland!” Tink screeched.
“I claimed it,” Wendy replied smoothly. “It needed a new queen. And one with better fashion sense.”
Rapunzel snorted. “Okay but like, facts.”
“I taught the Lost Boys how to read and sword fight,” Wendy continued. “Built airships, battled nightmares, dethroned shadows. I rewrote the rules.”
Snow raised a brow. “Didn’t you get exiled for turning the mermaids into spies?”
Wendy shrugged. “Creative diplomacy.”
Cinda leaned in, curious. “And what about Peter now?”
Wendy paused.
Then smiled. “He still flies. Just… in my sky.”
Tink let out a high-pitched squeal of rage, flew straight into the chandelier, and exploded it into sparkling chaos.
“Okay, time for someone to grab the salt and sprinkle Tink before she combusts,” Red muttered, shielding her hair from falling crystal bits.
“You’re not the main character, Wendy!” Tink shouted from a spark pile.
Wendy blinked innocently. “Neither are you.”
“Yeah, I am,” Rapunzel whispered.
“No, me,” Snow snapped.
“Me, obviously,” Beauty’s voice echoed from her vampire-mist somewhere in the rafters.
“OKAY THAT’S IT,” Goldi yelled, standing up and accidentally flipping the tea table.
The Quill hovered uncertainly.
It was about to pick the next one.
