📚 Short Stories From The Immortal Quill – Issue #17
Ohhhh it’s ON like enchanted Donkey Kong! The Quill is quivering, the tea is steeping, and the immortal sass-queens are holding their collective breath (while subtly glossing their lips just in case Loki glances their way).
Battle of the Backstories - Rapunzel vs. Loki
Rapunzel stepped forward, golden hair tied in a dramatic braid that trailed like a comet behind her. She flipped it over her shoulder with the flair of a born drama queen and raised the Quill like it was Excalibur dipped in glitter.
“Ahem,” she announced. “Let me tell you a tale of towers, betrayal, magical bloodlines, and heartbreak so poetic it made the moon weep.”
Snow fake-sneezed. “Weep from boredom, maybe.”
Rapunzel threw her a look. “Hush, snowflake. You had your turn.”
She cleared her throat and launched into it.
The Legend of the Towerbound Tempest (A Rapunzel Original)
“Long ago, I was not just a girl locked in a tower. I was the tower. Cursed by a jealous moon goddess who didn’t like how good my cheekbones looked under starlight.
My hair? Not just hair. It was an ancient map of ley lines - cosmic rivers of magic flowing straight from the gods. The longer it got, the more portals I could open. The tower? It was a prison built from obsidian lies, meant to trap my power.
Then HE came. The Daywalker Prince. Part celestial fire, part vampire royalty. Eyes like storm clouds and the voice of a haunted lullaby. He didn’t rescue me. No. I rescued him. I leapt from the tower, hair blazing, and caught him mid-fall as he was thrown from the cliffs by rival were-banshees.
We kissed in midair. Magic exploded. I became immortal. And the ley lines? They awakened. I now wield them as spells through strands of hair. I’m part oracle, part monster-slayer, and all fabulous.
You’re welcome.”
Applause. Gasps. One fainting Goldi. Even Tink looked mildly impressed (before scowling again for balance).
Then… slow clapping.
Loki.
Oh, Loki.
He rose from the velvet chaise like poetry in motion, boots clicking softly, mischief curled in every joint. “That,” he purred, “was adorable.”
Rapunzel’s eyes narrowed. “Oh really?”
He grinned, took the Quill, and - without waiting for permission - began.
The Legend of Loki, the Inkbound Serpent King (A Chaos Original)
“I was born in the heart of a dying star, during the last breath of the World-Serpent who curled around forgotten realms. My cradle? A ribcage of a time god. My first words? Spells so potent, reality hiccuped.
I’ve lived a thousand lives. A phoenix once tried to marry me - I declined. A kraken owed me money. I shapeshifted into a comet once, just to win a bet with Odin. And I won.
I don’t chase fate. Fate chases me. I sip tea with dimensions. I’ve kissed stars, stolen shadows, and once convinced a hydra to join musical theatre. I was the inspiration behind half of humanity’s legends and the reason the moon is afraid to show its full face.
Oh - and I once wooed a Fae Queen with nothing but riddles and moonlight. She still sends me flowers. Probably cursed, but charming nonetheless.”
He twirled the Quill with a wink. “Your move, Tower Queen.”
Dead silence. Then chaos.
Goldi screamed. Snow threw popcorn. Red declared herself team Loki forever. Tink shrieked, “He STOLE half that from a story I told in 1673!” Wendy sighed dreamily. Cinderella fainted on a fainting couch she summoned with magic just to faint on.
And Alice? She sipped her tea, eyes glittering. “Well. That escalated deliciously.”
The Quill glowed… and pulsed twice.
Tie.
Round 1 ends in a draw, leaving the room absolutely unhinged and more competitive than ever.
