The Trickster Games Begin
The air inside the Immortal Quill shifted.
It was either the subtle tremble of fate being rewritten or just the collective swoon of every immortal woman in the room when Loki stepped in and leaned against the velvet chaise with casual, ancient swagger.
Rapunzel? Blushing like a sunrise.
Wendy? Twisting her curls.
Cinderella? Adjusting her corset.
Snow? Pretending to yawn while sneaking a double-take.
Red? Definitely not blinking.
Tink? …looking absolutely unamused, arms crossed, wings twitching with murdery sass.
Goldi fanned herself dramatically. “Sweet shadowed stars, is it getting warm in here or is that just the Norse heatwave?”
Alice, perched gracefully on her enchanted tea throne, smiled like a cat who already knew where the mice were hiding. “Ladies… focus. You’re drooling on the ink.”
Loki, in all his chaotic, flirtatious glory, bowed low and drawled, “May the Quill be ever in my favor.”
A collective squeal/groan/faint rolled through the room.
Tink muttered, “Oh for the love of moon dust, he’s not that charming.”
“YES HE IS,” said everyone else in unison.
The Quill sparked and hummed - clearly thrilled to be witnessing what could only be described as the beginning of a very messy competition. Possibly for glory. Possibly for power. Possibly for the privilege of being noticed by a trickster god in eyeliner.
Alice sipped her tea and tilted her head. “Well, Rapunzel darling… your move. Are you going to continue your story, or shall I let Loki inspire the next tale?”
Loki smirked. “Oh, I’d love to hear how I’ve influenced the fairy tales.”
Tink exploded. “Oh, no no no! We are not letting him charm his way into our spotlight! He’s not even supposed to be here! This is our story circle!”
Wendy, smirking like the petty pirate princess she secretly was, nudged Tink. “You sound a little jealous, dear.”
“I’M NOT JEALOUS, I’M TERRITORIAL,” Tink snapped, wings flaring.
Snow tossed popcorn into her mouth and said, “I vote we let Loki tell a story. If it’s better than Rapunzel’s, she loses a turn.”
Rapunzel gasped. “Sabotage!”
Alice tapped her quill against her lip. “I do love a little competitive storytelling…”
The Quill pulsed once.
Challenge accepted.
Alice smiled like the Queen of Chaos herself. “Then it’s settled. One trickster god. One tangled tower girl. One stage. Let the story duel… begin.”
And somewhere in the corner, Goldi whispered, “This is better than immortal Metflix.”
