📚 Short Stories From The Immortal Quill – Issue #29

Buckle up your bodices and sharpen those eyeliner wings - because today’s tale is brought to you by Dorothy, the cyclone-surfing, heel-stomping, witch-flattening diva of drama. And it is officially...

"Dorothy Drops the House (And the Drama)"

Dorothy stood front and center at the storytelling circle, one ruby heel perched dramatically on the ottoman like she was about to launch into a Broadway number. Her storm-glass journal floated beside her, pages fluttering with wind-kissed sass, while her house gleamed proudly outside like an emotional support cottage.

“Gather 'round, ladies,” she purred, “because this is the true story of how I crushed a witch and a narrative all in one go.”

Cinderella gave her a long, slow blink. “Please tell me this one has less ‘tornado’ and more ‘plot.’”

Dorothy just flipped her braids over her shoulder. “Plot? Darling. I brought a weather event and a death by footwear. Sit back.”

Tink rolled her eyes hard enough to shift dimensions. “She’s literally doing her own PR tour.

Goldi was grinning, curled up in her usual velvet chair with a snack scroll and a drink named Twistertini. “No notes so far.”

Red muttered, “She’s about to say ‘And that’s when I knew I was born to be legendary,’ I can feel it.”

Dorothy cleared her throat and dramatically began.

“It all started with a twister and a really bad vibe…”

"I was minding my business in a world too beige for my destiny when - bam - Mother Nature decided I needed a career upgrade. So a twister yanks me out of obscurity, and next thing I know, I'm flying through the sky with my little dog and a house full of regrets."

Snow raised an eyebrow. “Was that a metaphor?”

“Nope. Just rural Kansas,” Dorothy winked.

“Anyway, we land - crash - and I look outside and bam! I’ve squashed a witch. With style.

Goldi clapped. “Honestly, that’s the dream.”

“She tried to haunt me later - real clingy ex-energy - but I handled it. Ruby heels, sparkly vengeance, the usual.”

Rapunzel leaned forward, wide-eyed. “Did she beg for her life?”

Dorothy sipped her storm-chilled lemonade. “Like a cheap knockoff villain in a discount spellbook. But I said, ‘Honey, your reign ends here.’”

Tink scoffed. “Wow. Humble much?”

“Oh please, like you haven’t hexed a rival over the last muffin,” Dorothy shot back sweetly.

Snow mumbled, “She actually did last week.”

“Anyway,” Dorothy continued, “I ended up with a kingdom in chaos, a pair of fabulous shoes, and four directions of drama. North was cool. East? Charred. West? The crispy one. South tried to mentor me, but I don’t do side quests.”

Cinderella finally chimed in, “Sounds like you just… murdered your way to the top.”

Dorothy smiled innocently. “Justice. And fashion.”

Red drawled, “I liked the part where she weaponized architecture. Classic move.”

“Thank you, Red,” Dorothy said with a little bow. “You get me.”

Tink crossed her arms. “Well I don’t. You fly in with your house and your hair and your ‘Look at me, I slayed someone important,’ act - "

“And yet here I am, invited,” Dorothy interrupted. “Maybe the storm brought me here because this crew needed a bit more gale force glamour.”

The tension was thick enough to slice with a cursed dagger.

Goldi held up a muffin like a peace treaty. “Okay but… storytime slayed, let’s be real.”

Rapunzel nodded enthusiastically. “Ten out of ten for chaos.”

Snow just sighed and opened her planner. “Next.”

Cinderella side-eyed Dorothy. “You gonna drop a house on anyone else while you’re here?”

Dorothy smiled sweetly. “Not unless provoked.”

And just like that, another legendary tale was inked into the archives of The Immortal Quill -complete with chaos, a little murder, and a whole lotta sparkle.

End of today's story.
Tomorrow? Who knows. But something tells me Tink might just snap.
