“The Gorgon By Any Other Name”
Starring: Anonymously Inspired Storytelling ShenanigansThe day started the usual way: coffee-fueled chaos, hair flips, scroll juggling, and Tink acting like she definitely didn’t sleep on her notes again.
Cinderella had brought in “morning pastries” (read: stale croissants from the discount bin), and Red was already poking holes in everyone’s wardrobe choices like the fashion police had given her an enchanted badge.
But then - dramatic echo here - Goldilocks cleared her throat.
Yes, Goldi. The queen of "too hot," "too cold," and "just right" had something to say. And by the sass of the seven realms, she had a story to tell.
She stood up like it was Open Mic Night at the Enchanted Café and began:
“The Cursed Maiden of Stonethorn Vale”
(Definitely NOT the tale of Medusa, don’t be ridiculous.)
Once upon a not-so-distant moonrise, there lived a mysterious woman named Mirelda in the mist-laced land of Stonethorn Vale. She was not royalty, nor warrior, but a healer of uncommon talent and beauty.
But oh - did the gods hate women with opinions.
One of the mighty sky lords (whose name rhymed with… uh… Bozeus) fell in lust with her. She refused him - publicly, gloriously, with a vine-choked “get lost” carved into his sacred temple.
Vengeance was swift.
His consort, the goddess of purity and side-eyes, cursed Mirelda with a stare that turned flesh to stone and hair that writhed like serpents on espresso.
Banished. Feared. Painted a villain in every bard’s song.
Until one day, a warrior maiden named Sylvara dared to step foot in Stonethorn Vale. She came not with sword, but with stories.
They didn’t fight.
They talked.
They laughed.
They shared tales of betrayal, divine hypocrisy, and terrible temple lighting.
And in the quiet of the forgotten world, Mirelda’s name was rewritten - from monster to myth, from curse to queen.
Now, legends say her statues sing at midnight. And if you’re brave enough to look a little closer, you might just see her wink.
There was a full beat of silence when she finished. Even Tink blinked.
“Wait a minute,” Rapunzel said slowly, narrowing her eyes. “That’s Medusa. You just renamed everything.”
Goldi sipped her tea smugly. “Prove it.”
Snow tilted her head. “...Actually, it was beautifully done. Very moving.”
“Ugh, fine,” said Red, flipping a scroll. “I guess rewriting divine betrayal with a sapphic twist is story-worthy.”
Tink, arms crossed but lips twitching: “Still better than Dorothy’s tornado tantrum.”
Cinderella clapped. “Goldi, you’re up for the next newsletter quote box!”
Goldi bowed dramatically. “Thank you, my precious peasants.”
Bell rings. Workday over.
Everyone leaves.
As the last one shuts the door, a faint whisper echoes from the archives:
“Her name was Medusa. And her legend lives.”
